Factory Built Fixed Wing Aircraft Appraisals

The range of preowned factory built aircraft on the market gives you access to a wide variety that can likely fulfill your specific missions. Moreover, it's typically quicker to get into the sky in a preowned aircraft. While it can be time-consuming to go through the pre-buy inspection that should be part of the purchase of any used aircraft, it doesn't take as long as waiting at the back of the line-sometimes for several years-after reserving a delivery position for a new airplane. You'll likely pay less and get more. Preowned aircraft typically have a lower purchase price, enabling you to buy an airplane even if you couldn't afford a new one. And used aircraft often deliver comparatively better value. A 10-year-old airplane will arrive at its destination at just about the same time as a new model making the same flight, yet the cost of the aircraft will be significantly lower.

Homebuilt, Amateur Built and/or Kit Aircraft Appraisals

The world of homebuilt aircraft — officially known in the United States as Experimental Amateur-Built Aircraft — has existed as long as powered flight. Experimental amateur-built aircraft, often called “homebuilts” because they are typically built in people’s garages and basements, are the fastest growing segment of new aircraft in the United States. Amateur built aircraft are built by individuals and certificated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as “experimental amateur-built” (E-AB). Even the Wright brothers were homebuilders, since they didn’t rely on a factory to construct their airplanes. They, like the homebuilders of today, used their own abilities and craftsmanship to construct safe and efficient flying machines. Homebuilt aircraft are generally small, one to four-seat sportsplanes which employ simple methods of construction. Fabric-covered wood or metal frames and plywood are common in the aircraft structure, but increasingly, fiberglass and other composites as well as full aluminum construction techniques are being used.

Helicopters and Rotorcraft Appraisals

The word helicopter is adapted from the French language hélicoptère, coined by Gustave Ponton d'Amécourt in 1861, which originates from the Greek helix "helix, spiral, whirl, convolution" and pteron "wing". English-language nicknames for helicopter include "chopper", "copter", “rotorcraft”, "helo", "heli", and "whirlybird".
